Two K-pop singers who committed suicide: Jonghyun and Moonbin

Suicide or suicidal tendency is something that can often be seen quite easily in hands: the head line is the one to watch in particular, but also the mounts of Luna and Venus, the thumb, any markings on life and fate line as well as their quality and lengths and of course the entire hand in general (intensity, passion, energy, impulsiveness, groundedness, etc.).

Kim Jong-hyun, aka Jonghyun, b. 1990, d. 2017, major hand: left

If only Jonghyun had his major hand like his minor hand! Unfortunately, it is his major hand that shows a clear break on the head line around the age of 30. Such a break indicates some kind of mental breakdown, depression or even head injury. The thumb also is not very long, thus indicating not enough self-mastery. The finger tips are conical, expected in an artist, but which also makes a person more receptive to surroundings. The lower Luna and Venus are well-developed: a passionate man with good imagination. However, both passion and imagination can lead one to suicide, too, when the head is not thinking clearly and self-control is low. The lower joints of fingers are slightly knotty, stopping him from impulsiveness: this indicates that Jonghyun probably did plan his suicide to some extent, rather than rushing into it without thinking through. The hand shows a good degree of both independence of thought and action, thus a person ready to think out of the box and also act on it. The Mercury finger’s joints are slightly staggered, indicating some kind of neurodivergence. It is a long finger though, giving good public-facing abilities when it comes to skills such as speaking or singing. The fate line is weak to non-existent, especially in his thirties and beyond when it comes to age. When one compares with his minor hand, the head line is a fine one, with no break: thus, Jonghyun owes his suicide more to his circumstances and how he developed rather than his early childhood upbringing.

Moon Bin, aka Moonbin 문빈, b. 1998, d. 2023, major hand: right

Moonbin’s major hand shows a much stronger indication of suicide. The head line almost falls of a cliff, and the Luna is over-developed to the extent that the subject can be categorised as a Lunarian. The head line is not very long and the thumb is short: thus, lack of foresight and lack of self-mastery. The lower finger joints, however, are knotty again, as in the case of Jonghyun, thus pointing to a subject who does think through things rather than rushing into them impulsively. This means he must have planned his death to some extent. The narrow quadrangle indicates a certain restriction in the range of thoughts, thus a person unable to see a broad spectrum of possibilities. The finger gaps also indicate that there is not much independence of thought, though independence of action is certainly there, a common feature among artists, anyway. The life line is short and weak, indicating a rootlessness felt by the subject. There is, again, no fate line to speak of from his thirties onwards.

Both these K-pop artists, Jonghyun and Moonbin, died in their twenties, leaving their fans devastated. It would be good to see the hands of other K-pop artists in the future, as probably many of them suffer from depression. In the world of showbiz, where work can be intense and relations fickle, this can be a common drawback to an otherwise glamorous life.

One response to “Two K-pop singers who committed suicide: Jonghyun and Moonbin”

  1. […] The very first thing to strike one? A very clear break on his simian line in the right hand and on his head line in the left hand at around the age of 34. The same age he died! And usually such a mental break, when allied with other features, means severe and sudden mental breakdown, and, often, a suicide. Rajput’s hands are in fact extraordinarily similar in many respects to the K-pop singer Jonghyun’s hands, who also committed suicide and which I covered earlier here. […]
