This post is about two Taiwanese politicians, one a former policeman and another a former physician, written in the backdrop of the Taiwanese presidential elections, due to be held tomorrow on 13th of January 2024. As it is a time-sensitive post, I will be writing less details, just a few important points. Let’s start from the incumbent party’s man first, Lai Ching-te, also called as William Lai, the current vice-president of Taiwan.
Lai Ching-te, aka William Lai (賴清德)
Major hand: right, b. 1959

Now the photo quality is not good at all. I have a few more, some of them a bit better, but nothing good. Here is one more:

Do I see a very strong fate line, often very important to reach the top, in this hand? I do not. There is some semblance of a fate line, but nothing strong at all. However, his Luna and Venus are very prominent, good mounts, giving a lot of luck to this person. As I have repeatedly stressed earlier, a person with those two mounts very well developed does well in the material world. In fact, most of his mounts look very good, giving him a significant advantage. In addition, his Mercury finger is good, giving him good communication skills and good business acumen. Yet, to become the leader of a country, you need the drive for it and something fated to take you there: both of these seem missing here. A narrow quadrangle also shows someone with a probable lack of tolerance for groups or ideologies different from his.
Hou Yu-ih, aka Hou Youyi (侯友宜)
Major hand: right, b. 1957
If Hou wins, it would be a major upset, as Lai is expected to win. Let us look at Hou’s hands.

(Both hands of Hou, pictured in September 2018)
Look at that extraordinary fate line, shining clear even in an ordinary-quality photo. The fingers are also quite a bit short, relatively more so compared to Lai’s hands. This is an intense energy- and motivation-driven hand with a go-getter, results-driven attitude, the hand of a former police officer. Do not forget to factor in that simian line in both hands: intensity tripled! His mounts in general are more ordinary compared to Lai’s, though his Luna is also as excellent as Lai’s. Other mounts are also good overall, but Venus is not that great, indicating that he has to achieve things with a bit more slogging, rather than luck giving it to him easy. Here is one more picture of his hand:

For me, this picture clinches it. I would think Hou would win the election, given such a strong fate line, notwithstanding his weaker mount of Venus compared to Lai’s. Hou, too, shows very good communication skills, but more on the side of negotiation and understanding rather than business and shrewdness, which was the case with Lai. Hou’s Saturn finger is a bit small, indicating a man ready to experiment and be innovative with structures, ready to shake them up.
We will know who will win tomorrow. I would think Hou, even though Lai is the frontrunner, but given that I do not have proper hand prints and I don’t have their astrological details, too, to do more research, I cannot be completely certain. The one thing I can be certain about is this: regardless of the ideology of the parties they represent, to me, Hou is a better choice, as he brings intense energy, innovation and motivation for the job. And to be a leader of a country, especially in the times to come when Taiwan could face existential crises, requires all these in oodles.
